Today Palarigopiano is one of the most beautiful plants in Italy. Changing rooms, emergency exits and a new grandstand have been refurbished to increase the capacity to 1000 seats.
An arena tailored to fans, exclusive to futsal, equipped with all the comforts and state-of-the-art equipment for managing a sporting event.
The parquet material requires the use of indoor sports shoes, for optimum performance quality. It’s not forbidden the use of outdoor game shoes.
Among the important features of this arena the stands, with area reserved for people with disabilities, infirmary and anti-doping laboratory.
At Palarigopiano she played for years Pescara Calcio a 5, one of the most important futsal clubs in Italy and Europe, and the City of Pescara, a women’s 5-a-side football team; the latter still plays in the women’s Serie A championship today.
Palarigopiano History
“A valid athlete, a young boy full of high hopes, crushed too soon by an illness that left him no way out, but which has not extinguished in the family and friends the memory of a sportsman who must continue to be an example for the new generations. Twenty years after his death, the Pescara municipal administration felt it had to pay the right tribute to the young man from Pescara, Fausto Scorrano, remembering the figure with an official ceremony for the positioning of the plaque with which the sports facility was named after the young man of the sports hall in via Rigopiano ”.
This was underlined by the councilors for Sport Nicola Ricotta and for Education Roberto Renzetti during the ceremony held at the PalaRigopiano for the positioning of the plate on the external walls of the structure.
Also present were the family and friends of the unfortunate young man, who passed away at 24 in the early 90s.
Councilor Renzetti underlined: “Fausto as a promising young sport, practiced athletics with discipline, seriousness and transparency. His name, linked to the Palarigopiano, where dozens of boys train every day; it must be a teaching and a symbol of hope for those who often do not know how to appreciate the small joys of life “.
Immediately after the councilors Ricotta and Renzetti with Fausto’s father, Vincenzo Scorrano, discovered the plaque, on which the phrase ‘Altruism and loyalty, values that have characterized your life, are points of reference for all those who live the sport”.
Scorrano concluded: “I am very happy, we have been waiting for this ceremony for twenty years. For this event I want to thank the municipal administration, but also Domenico Allegrino, who as councilor, in 1993, took the initiative to dedicate the Palazzetto in via Rigopiano to Fausto “.
